La Palapa was founded due to their passion for authentic Mexican cuisine and their genuine love to serve others.

"FOOD, IN THE END, IN OUR OWN TRADITION, IS SOMETHING HOLY. IT’S NOT ABOUT NUTRIENTS AND CALORIES. IT’S ABOUT SHARING. IT’S ABOUT HONESTY. IT’S ABOUT IDENTITY."

Head Chef Jose Luis Portrayed | La Palapa | Mexican Restaurant | Catering PittsburghJose Luis, Head Chef

Chef José Luis has been working for over 15 years in different restaurants in Puebla, Mexico and around the United States where he has trained and practiced in cuisines such as Mexican, Italian, American, Spanish, Portuguese and Mediterranean. During his career he has specialized in cooking for gourmet Mexican and Spanish restaurants.

Jesús is a traveler who loves cooking and eating. Through his travels he has seen and tasted the flavors of many different countries from Latin America through Western and Eastern Europe to the Middle East. “When somebody you meet invites you to their table, that is when you realize that families really show you their culture through their kitchen and flavors”. This was the principal reason why we wanted to partner and open a window to the Mexican culture and customs through the flavors of Mexico…

"WE SHARE THE DREAM OF BRINGING THE REAL FLAVORS OF MEXICAN CUISINE TO THE PEOPLE OF PITTSBURGH. MI CASA ES TU CASA!!"

Join Business owners and professionals from the Pittsburgh Region in a one of a kind networking event celebrating Cinco de Mayo with amazing hor d'oeurves, drinks, and music. Make this Cinco de Mayo one to remember with a festive event that includes a cash bar happy hour, appetizers, complimentary Margarita toast, and music.

Cinco de Mayo is a yearly remembrance held on May 5, which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza.

While Cinco de Mayo is not a big celebration in Mexico, in the context of the United States, we chose Cinco de Mayo as a day to commemorate the thousands of businesses that Mexican & other Latin American folks have opened in the US. As your Hispanic Chamber, we encourage you to support Mexican-/Latinx-owned businesses today and this week to show our gratitude for the everlasting impact they have created in the fabrics of Pittsburgh.

    What is Speed Networking?

Speed networking is a type of business networking activity that is designed to give each individual participant contact with as many people as possible in a short space of time.

A speed event is structured in such a way that participants introduce themselves to others in an allocated period of time (1-2 minutes) before moving on to the next person. The idea is that basic information about you and each other participants is exchanged gained rather than having an in-depth discussion.

    Admission

    Members $10 & Non-Members $15

    Tickets include food, Cash bar

    Practice Your Elevator Pitch

With each group, you will have 60 seconds to effectively introduce yourself. Be sure to give enough information to pique the interest of potential partners, clients, mentors and friends! Important information to include: who you are, your company, role, what your company does, your goals, who you would like to work with and/or who you would like to work with.

    Exchange business cards

You have limited time so at least ensure that you exchange business cards so you can contact them at a later date. Remember your business cards and bring enough cards. This event previously had 180 attendees. Each attendee networked with at least 30 individuals.

    Make Follow Up Easy

Make any notes on business cards collected so you will be reminded after the event you of who you have met and what action is required. Following the event create a standard email that you can make small personalized tweaks to (as needed). Follow up via email and also be sure to add your fellow participants on LinkedIn. Follow the Hispanic Chamber Facebook and LinkedIn pages to see photos and who is tagged in them following the event.
